With a large percentage of the workforce working from home these days, there is an unprecedented strain on the backbone of the internet. The infrastructure of the internet, specifically within the residential sector, was not designed to accommodate the levels of activity is it seeing right now. The downstream effect of this extraordinary bandwidth demand generally manifests itself in slowness (latency) and page load errors.
Some of our users are experiencing these negative effects while using the Matrix system, specifically when trying to load property maps and other media on listings. This tends to happen more during business hours, as the hoards of telecommuters are all trying to work simultaneously.
If you are experiencing errors or blank windows when trying to open up maps, photos, videos, etc. on listings in Matrix, we suggest either waiting until an off-peak time to try again or trying to access the same thing from your smartphone using cellular data (rather than while on wifi).
Unfortunately, this issue is well beyond anything SmartMLS can influence or resolve. Hopefully, the current crisis will start to subside soon and ease the tremendous strain on the internet.
